First Week. DONE.

Fuck injuries. That’s about all I have to say. Nope. I have a LOT more to say.

I reinjured my lower back. You know, the injury that threw me into a spiral of depression and gaining 25 pounds back thanks to being restricted from exercise for nearly a year? Yep. That injury. I was partially through my leg/back workout yesterday which included single leg deadlifts and reverse lunge deadlifts, I had a suspicion that my form was slightly off and debated switching it up to straight up deadlifts…and I didn’t. Last night, right before the fireworks, my lower back started hurting me in a way I haven’t felt since my third round of cortisone shots in the beginning of 2015. By the end of the night, I felt like my back was giving out. I should’ve known better.

So today, at the first opportunity I had, I ran to my local dispensary and bought some pretty potent CBD salve to help me out. Let’s see how that works and what focusing on my core, not deadlifting, and listening to my body will do. I’d really like to avoid another round of shots.

On a totally unrelated note, I managed to only gain 2 pounds over a 3 day holiday weekend, which is about half of what I usually gain in water weight. I managed to stay pretty strict to my nutrition plan and make really healthy decisions, eating mostly at home and avoiding unnecessary bullshit (with the exception of 1.5 cookies that my wife made). Today I’m starting my first cut, which is only funny because I’m not changing much.

AND, on a very exciting note, I ordered a home gym today. It’s intermediate quality but will allow me to do the things that I really love to do, and it’s scheduled to arrive next Thursday.
